Saturday August 20th at Fairview Mountain saw 128 men & women gather to participate in the 2011 version of our Annual Mixed Open Scramble. Members and non-members came in groups of 4, and along with their "A" games, headed out for a day of fun and laughter with a tad of competitive spirit lurking. A big thank you to all the volunteers who arrived early to help with all the pre-game registration tables. Huge appreciation for that.
Coming out on top for 2011 was the Andy Moog group with Andy and Carla Moog, Mary Ann & Jim Clarke shooting a 61, net 55.22
The 2011 Senior Men's Tournament is right around the corner, being played Tuesday September 6th. A full field of 128 players have registered and will be ready to go head to head when the 10 am shotgun sounds,all hoping to come out the 2011 Champion. With 4 flights everyone has a great chance to cash in on all the net & gross prizes to be awarded. KP, door prizes are but a part what will be included in each golfers entry fee. Then at the end of the day, a great meal will be presented and served to the hungry by Chef Yvonne and her staff.

Juanita Roth and Jim Ryan were the top finishers of those who competed in the 2011 FMGC Club Championship on August 6th & 7th.
Jim Ryan held on for the two days to take the Men's division in the tournament with scores of 74 + 76 (150). Tied for second spot were Lance Johnston & Thierry Martine who made it close, both shooting 77 + 74 (151).
In a two day tournament for Club Champion, the winner of Overall Low Gross for the Tuesday Sr Men's Club is Larry Yamaguchi. His 2 day total of 151 put him 9 strokes ahead of Wayne Ross and Roger Bowering who tied for 2nd, both coming in with 160.
Overall Low Net was handed out to Pete Wicklund who carded a 132, while right behind was Ted Griff in 2nd with 133 and Art Ohman with 140.
August 6th & 7th is the date set to determine the 2011 Men's & Ladies Club Champions. All members who enter will compete for the honor of being named Club Champion, but there will be a great prize table to honor all flight winners as well. We would like to see as many members as possible sign up and join in the festivities that accompany the Club Championship. Pictured are the 2010 Club Champions Wayne Ross and Juanita Roth. There are 4 student employees at Fairview Mountain that we would like to congratulate on their graduation this year from South Okanagan Secondary School here in Oliver. Jenna Hesselgrave, Talisa Caldwell, Wes Treadwell, and Tyler Barreira.
These 4 also came away with scholarships and bursuries to help them with their future educational endeavours. Each year Fairview Mountain Golf Club puts forth a scholarship and this years winner was Tyler Barreira (pictured)

Saturday June 25th will see the 3rd annual Ladies Pro Am take place here at Fairview Mountain Golf Club with a full field of teams registered to take part. 112 ladies will make up 28 teams, accompanied by 1 pro per team, will tee off and play 18 holes of competitive golf, but really a lot of emphasis will be on fun! Starting the day with 3 pre round games down at our practice facility to help them warm up, the ladies will be ready to go for the 1:00 pm shotgun start. All fingers will be crossed as we hope for the best weather yet this year.
On Wednesday June 29th, we will see Paul Welsman & Patrick Martin tee it up on #1 to begin their participation in the 5th Annual ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) Golf A Thon. Paul is the verteran golfer of the pair this year, as Patrick steps in to compete in his first Golf A Thon. Early to bed the night before! Hitting the first drive at 4:30 am and continuing until dark, this event is a tremendous test of intestinal fortitude! Last year, 14 full rounds were played (252 Holes) and we are certain, the desire to go further is on both their minds!

What an incredible day Wednesday June 29th turned out to be. What an incredible couple of guys who spent from dawn till dusk on the golf course helping to raise money for the ALS Society of British Columbia. Paul Welsman & Patrick Martin (seen here with their biggest fan, Shirley P) gave it their all, all day long, participating in our 5th annual ALS Golf A Thon, here at Fairview Mountain. They made every swing look effortless, but we know how the adrenaline must have kicked in near the end of a gruelling day of nonstop golf. There really are no words...

Once again Fairview Mountain will be holding its annual Mens Open Scramble & Tournament on the first weekend in June. Starting Friday the 3rd, a scramble format is the play of the day & proves to be great time to meet up with all the other golfers, have some fun on the course and then in for a great meal provided by Chef Yvonne and her staff. There is a 1:30 pm shotgun for this Friday round so the golf course itself will be closed to the public. An 8:00 am shotgun will be available to all members and guests. The restaurant will close at 2 pm, Friday only.
Over a 2 day stretch, the 2011 PGA of BC Pro/Assistant Championship took place at Fairview Mountain Golf Club, and we really couldn't have asked for better weather or better golf.
78 participants came from all over the province, all hoping they packed their "A" game for the trip.
FMGC paired up Head Pro Brian McDonald with Assistant Patrick Martin who came in with a 2 day total of 130 (66,64) putting them in a tie for 4th with Scott Dickson & Lindsay Bernakevitch from Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club.
The Pro-Assistant Championship is a 36 hole event over the course of 2 days, May 9th & 10th, both days beginning with a shotgun start. Day 1 will be Best Ball format while day 2 will see a 2 man scramble. Also included, will be a Skins game just to add a little more competition to the event. After the first day of competition, all golfers will attend a cocktail reception in our clubhouse followed by a championship dinner prepared by our own Chef Yvonne. We know that no one will be disappointed with this presentation.
The 16th Annual SOSS Enrichment Fund Scramble, hosted once again by Fairview Mountain Golf Course, raised $13,230 on the Apr 16th and 17th weekend for the SOSS Enrichment Fund Society. The winning team from left to right: John Chapman, Jen Seminoff, Mel Ducharme, Sandra Espenhain and captain Bill Ford. Congratulations!
The 2010 Senior Men's Open Tournament was held on a very rainy day, nearly Vancouver weather, an unfortunate situation but despite this, there was a full field of 128 players entered. It is a tribute to all players that started the day. Not only did they all finish, there were a couple of very low scores.
Overall Low Gross winner was Jeff Omland (pictured) with a great round of 67, with Gord Rudd taking Overall Low Net. shooting 65.
Today marks the start of the 2011 golf season at Fairview Mountain, with the Senior Men's Club first up on the tee box. After what has seemed like a long winter, our Men's & Ladies clubs are anxious to get back out on the course.
