So if you think you are up to the challenge and want to be a part of our team, take a few minutes to review what a few of our current & past employees have had to say about working at Fairview Mountain Golf Club.
Here at FMGC we take pride in our current staff and those who have been a part of our group in the past. Please take a few moments to read over their comments on their experience while being a part of the staff team here at Fairview Mountain golf club.
Brian McDonald - Current Position: General Manager & Director of Golf - Years at FMGC: 21
'It is hard for me to believe I have been a part of the club for the last 21 years. As someone who came to FMGC at the age of 21, I think what has kept me here is the commitment & passion for improvement that is equally shared by both the membership and the staff team. In my time here I have been fortunate enough to be a part of the construction of a new club house & a new maintenance building, design & construction of a new short game facility, and the expansion of our course to 7,030 yards. On a personal note, the organization has allowed me to grow from my 1st position of assistant golf professional to head golf professional, from head golf professional to director of golf , and finally from director of golf to GM. The club is very supportive of staff and is fully aware of the benefits of educated and happy employees."
Paul Welsman - Past Employee - F&B Manager - Years with Organization: 6
"What drew me to become an employee at Fairview Mountain in 2006 was its amazing atmosphere and breathtaking golf course. I joined the club originally in the golf shop in 2006 and left after one year to complete my education in Golf Management. Once I graduated, I returned to the Okanagan and inquired about the possibility of rejoining the club, which resulted in my hiring in the position of F&B coordinator. After a year of commitment to the club, I was promoted to F&B Manager. What has been most rewarding for me as someone who has worked in different ends of the organization is to see all 5 department's day in and day out, working together to make our facility better every day for our membership and guests. There is a real team concept here that feels pretty good to be a part of."
Danny Long - Past Employee, Head Golf Professional - Years with Organization: 11
'For me, it's the entire team atmosphere, top to bottom at Fairview Mountain that made it so gratifying to work there. From the grounds crew and administration, to the restaurant and our outside service staff, everyone has such a great attitude and works toward one common goal - creating the "Ultimate Fairview Mountain Experience". The unmatched quality of the golf course made it a very easy sell as the top Facility in the Okanagan to the public, resulting in a membership thrilled to havethis gem right in their backyard and eager to volunteer. I forever look back on my time at the Mountain as a solid building block in my career with relationships that will last a lifetime.'
Art Riome - Current Position - Course Superintendent - Years with Organization: 30
'Fairview Mountain Golf Club is quite simply an amazing place to work. I have been a member of an evolving team of dedicated and inspired people for quite a number of seasons, and every year brings new challenges and rewards. Everyone's total commitment to making Fairview Mountain Golf Club the very best it can be makes coming to work something I look forward to every day. Providing a great golf experience and having the support to always be improving the facility give me a sense of satisfaction that would be very hard to surpass. Of course, working in one of Canada's best climates, surrounded by vineyards and orchards, with stunning scenery and boundless opportunity for recreation in any direction doesn't hurt a bit.'
Nick O'Coin - Past Employee - Accounting Supervisor - Years with Organization: 3 (2007 -2010)
'I found that working at Fairview Mountain gave me the opportunity to work with a truly 'down-to-earth', fun group of people.
Everyone there supports a work hard/play hard balance, so that made coming to work every day that much more enjoyable, considering I love to (attempt to) golf, and considering where I'm lucky enough to work on my swing – who could complain?
Fairview Mountain is a great place to work and I would recommend it to anyone…'
Kelsey Echlin - Past Employee - Years with Organization - 4 (seasonal)
'In the four summers I worked at Fairview Mountain Golf Course I came to see it as more than a place of employment but a place to meet new people, a place to form lifelong friendships and a place that was always very supportive of its staff members needs. Not only did the staff go out of their way to help one another but they did so in an encouraging manner. The relationships that I developed extended beyond co-workers that I worked with everyday, to include co-workers in other departments, members of the golf course, and other guests of the facility, all of whom which left lasting impressions and made the job that much more enjoyable. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience and one that helped me to develop skills that I'll be able to use in the future."
Adam Silva – Former PGA of Canada Professional at FMGC – Years with Organization - 6
"My stay at Fairview Mountain was a very memorable and enjoyable experience. Management and co workers alike made it a very easy fit to be an intricate part of the Fairview Mountain team aspect. Great mixture of professionalism, leadership, and recreation ensures growth in both your career and of course your golf game. Fairview Mountain Golf Club will always provide me with great memories and experiences that will make coming back there like I had never left."
Brett McClelland - "BBQ Guy" - Cactus Shack -Years with Organization - 1
"Fairview Mountain provided me with an extraordinary work experience. It is one of those rare places that offers employees a considerate, encouraging and positive environment. There is an upbeat, friendly atmosphere that permeates the facility and boosts one's level of personal involvement, job satisfaction and desire to contribute your best and help others.
The care, dedication and buoyant spirit that characterize the management at FMGC filters down to employees, members and the public where enthusiasm, cheerfulness and humor are found in abundance. Goodwill is infectious and it certainly comes to the forefront at this wonderful corner of the South Okanagan. Thank you for all the great memories."
